RE: Possibility of higher speed limits on highways
It is bad enough that many drivers cannot drive properly at the presently posted speed limits. What is going to happen when the speed are higher? The big problem is that many drivers overestimate their abilities and underestimate the “Laws of Physics”. Some fool drivers will drive even faster than the posted limit and when problems arise, there will not be enough time and space to correct the error. PLUS! Insurance companies are not fools. Watch the insurance rates rise on account of raised speed limits. The whole thing is a foolish idea. Oh, yeah, and the last, this goes contrary to the “green” idea of saving the environment. Faster one drives, the more fuel the vehicle will need. Tsk, tsk, tsk!
As for allowing single motorcycle riders in the HOV lane, it is about time as they are removed from the danger of sharing the roads with trucks.
